Astronist understandings of salvation centre on the notion of transcension which is the process of salvation through means of the astronomical world.

In Astronism, the concept of salvation is interpreted as equated with an individual, or humanity as a whole, achieving their highest possible condition, a condition regarded as reached by means of proximation to the astronomical world (a belief called perinism) due to its position as the existential source. The word transcension is principally used for this certain type of salvation by way of outer space. As such, although the terms transcension and salvation are sometimes used interchangeably in Astronist discourses, the former is more accurately seen as a specific type or an Astronist interpretation of the latter.
